No-till Grass/Grain Drill Request Form
A specially designed no-till drill is the most efficient method for planting native, warm-season grasses and forbs. It can also be used to plant small grain food plots and clover/grass firebreaks if burning is going to be used after the stand is established. First priority is given to planting native, warm-season grasses. This drill is available for private landowner use at a small rental fee from the Jackson County Conservation District. You will be responsible for getting a tractor and operator for planting the seed. You and your operator must be present when the drill is delivered to go over instructions on the drill’s proper operation. This 5.5-foot drill can be operated with a 50-hp tractor that has dual hydraulics. The no-till cutters should be set to cut into the soil less than 1 inch. Seed should be planted ½ to ¼ inch deep into moist but not wet soil. The district charges $65.00 for set-up and $6.00/acre with a minimum charge of $125.00. Please refer to the Rental Agreement Terms document for more details. Please complete the following information.
