Help save Jackson County’s grassland birds!
Grassland birds are on a decline because the fields in which they nest are mowed while the birds are still sitting on the next. If only the mowing could be postponed until after July 4, many grassland birds could be saved. This causes a problem for farmers who are trying to get as many cuttings as possible to make money off their land. Many times a field is just mowed because the property owner doesn’t like the looks of the long grass. That is where your new Grassland Committee can help educate these property owners about the nesting birds in their fields.
